All adult members of the household are listed as being able to read and write. Virginia Martin is listed as attending school and being able to read.⁵ Arthur McGowan was llisted as a carpenter, houses (and a worker), in the 1920 census.⁵

Theo Funkhouser (possibly a brother-in-law) was an honorary pallbearer at his funeral.³
