The cause of death is listed as bronchial pneumonia with a contributory factor that might be "Lagriph" or "Lagripp" (La Grippe -- based on a French term -- was a name for what is now called influenza). Based on this contributory factor and the date of death, his death might have been part of the Spanish Flu pandemic of that year. His address at the time of his death (from his death certificate) is difficult to read, but it might be 2238 N Main, Springfield, Missouri. He was listed as married at the time of his death, but his wife's name is listed on the death certificate only as Mrs Francis J Dodson. The death certificate indicates his occupation was "cabinet workman" at a piano company, possibly the Martin Piano Company or the National Piano Company.⁴ He was buried at Clear Creek Cemetery, Greene County, Missouri.⁴

Calvin Benett Williams and Mary B Tilda Dodson were listed as ages 32 and 27, respectively, born in Virginia and Missouri, respectively, both married for 7 years, both in first marriage, and both able to read, write, and speak English. Calvin was listed as being employed as a farmer on a home farm (on his own account, self-employed). No occupation was listed for Mary. Mary B Tilda Dodson, listed as "Tilie," who was reported to have given birth to one child who was still living.⁸

Calvin Benett Williams (listed as "Cal B" in this census) and Mary B Tilda Dodson (listed as "Tilie A") were listed as ages 42 and 37, respectively, born in Tennessee and Missouri, respectively (which may the reverse of the information they intended to give to the census taker), both married, and both able to read and write and to speak English. Calvin’s occupation was listed as a laborer for a railroad company (as a worker). No occupation was listed for Mary.⁹

She was listed as a lodger in the household of Muriel B Leech. The home was listed as rented (by Mrs Leech) for $200 per month and not on a farm (the $200 monthly rent was what Mary's landlord, Mrs Leach, paid to her landlord). A radio was present in the household. Nine lodgers were listed as living in the household, in addtion to Mrs Leech and one of her family members (her mother-in-law). Mary B Tilda Dodson's age was listed as 46, born in Missouri, divorced, nothing entered for age at first marriage, did not attend school the previous year, and could read and write.. The official date of that census was 02 April 1930. Mary was listed as employed as a dressmaker in an garmet shop (as a worker).¹⁰

The 1945 Oklahoma City Oklahoma city directory (published by R L Polk) indicated Mary B Tilda Dodson (listed under the name Mrs Mary A Williams) lived at 1221 1/2 NW 17th and her occupation was dressmaker. That same year she apparently also (according to the city directory) owned or worked in a shop (or a place of business of some type) in Room (or Suite) 212 of the Equity Building in Oklahoma City. The Equity Building itself appears to have been at 320-22 West Main Street in Oklahoma City and may have been named for the Equity Life Association (probably a life insurance company), which seemed to have offices on the 5th floor of the building.¹¹

Mary B Tilda Dodson died in April 1969 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, at age 86.¹² Her Social Security Number was 500-01-6804, issued in Missouri before 1951.¹²

Notes and Observations: A man named William Silas Dodson, of Wright County Missouri, and later Fresno County California (who may be cousin of some degree) married a woman whose maiden name was something like Tellie or Tilia Sullens. Thus the married name of William Silas Dodson's wife was quite similar to the maiden name of Mary B Tilda Dodson. Because of this, computer searches on Ancestry.com (and possibly on other data bases) may sometimes bring up a mixture of information about the two women.

The official date of that census was 01 January 1920. The home was listed as rented (and apparently not on a farm). Clyde Hannawalt was listed as age 38, born in Indiana, and married. His wife, Bertha Emma Jane Dodson, was listed as age 31, born in Missouri and married. Clyde Hannawalt’s occupation was listed as Elevator Man at a packing company and as a worker (not self-employed). Bertha Emma Jane Dodson was listed as having no occupation. Bertha Emma Jane Dodson’s mother, Arah Ann Davidella Fields, (listed as Davie Dodson) was listed as living with them. She was listed as age 74, born in Tennessee, a widow, and with no occupation. All members of the household were listed as being able to read, write, and speak English, and did not attend school after September 1, 1919. The street name is likely to have really been spelled Roosevelt.⁸

The informant was listed as Mrs R Watts (possibly her sister).²

Notes and observations: The US Social Security Death Index lists a Pearl M Fields (SS Number 513-24-5241) born 24 Jan 1895, died 23 June 1989, last residence: Blue Springs, Jackson County, Missouri, SS Card Issued in Kansas (before 1951). This Pearl Fields (born 1895) appears to be a different person than the Pearl Fields who was married to Ora Fields.
