He reported 52 weeks worked in 1939, $1740 wage income, and other income (other than wages and salary) in excess of $50. The population schedule indicates a farm schedule was not filed for this household (i.e., Mrs Dyer's household).5

Rose Daly was born circa 1915 at Arizona.1
On 19 February 1935, it appears that Virgil Lindsey Fields (listed as Virgil L Fields) and Rose Daly filled out an affidavit for a marriage license in Yuma County, Arizona. The affadivit was apparently not signed by the county clerk. There is no known specific documentation indicating that a marriage license was ever issued or that a marriage between these two individuals ever took place. BUT, A Virgil Fields (who seems to correspond to this individual) was listed as divorced in the 1940 Census. Both Virgil and Rose stated they were residents of Indio, California (giving the same specific mailingaddress, where the certificate was to be sent following a wedding, of Box 95F, Indio, California). The affidavit gives there ages as 24 and 20, respectively, and their places of birth as Arkansas and Arizona, respectively. Virgil Lindsey Fields's occupation is listed as Steel Worker. Except for his indicated age (24, when at that time he was 20), the information matches up quite well with Virgil Lindsey Fields. However, there is a possibility this license application was filled out by a different person, with a similar name.1

An item in her father's Civil War pension file also lists her birth year as 1880 (but other items list 1879). Ollie is presumed to be a nickname. It is possible she had a middle name of Olivia (which is also indicated by an item in her father's Civil War pension file, but another item in the pension file seems to list her middle initial as "D").3,2

Pearl (--?--) and Adam Smith appeared on the 1900 Federal Census of Jackson Township, at Greene County, Missouri, enumerated 21 June 1900. The home was rented and was on a farm. An agricultural census schedule was filed for this household. The official date of that census was 01 June 1900. This census is unique in that month and year of birth were requested for each individual, in additon to each individual's age at the official census date. Adam Smith was listed as age 22 born in Missouri, married 2/12 of a year (although this is difficult to read and somewhat uncertain), and employed as a farmer. Pearl (--?--) was listed as age 19, born in Tennessee, and also (apparently) married 2/12 of a year (both her parents were listed as born in Kentucky). She reported not having given birth to any children. Both members of the household could read, write, and speak English. Neither of them attended school within the past year. Adam's parents were the previous household entered on the census schedule page. A note on the census schedule page appears to indicate these households were in the southern portion of Jackson Township.1

Adelphia (--?--) married Drewey William Smith, son of James Smith and Margaret (--?--), between 1924 and 1928 at Kansas.1
In March 1929, Drewey William Smith’s apparent widow, Adelphia (--?--) applied for a payment from the pension office. What she received appears to have been only the amount of his pension that accrued between the time of the last payment that he received and the time of his death. There is very little in the file concerning Adelphia (--?--). She does not appear to have received (or applied for) a continuing regular monthly payment based on Drewey William Smith’s army service (and may not have been eligible for one, following a relatively short marriage entered into late in his life). But, she does seem to have resumed receiving a Civil War widow's pension based on the service of her first husband. Her address was listed as 217 So. First Street, Iola, Kansas.2
In March 1929, Drewey William Smith’s apparent widow, Adelphia (--?--) applied for a payment from the pension office. What she received appears to have been only the amount of his pension that accrued between the time of the last payment that he received and the time of his death.
