Peru -- Primarily Machu Picchu (Dec 2010)

This is one of the walls from the Inca era. Most of these longer walls were the foundation or "base mat" for the Inca buildings. After the conquest, the Spanish largely destroyed the older building and built churches and their municipal building on the older foundations and bases. At least, that's the impression I had. As indicated above, I was having trouble concentrating on what the tour guide was saying on this day.
