Superb Starling and (Possibly) Lilac-Brested Roller
I beleive this is the beginning of the photos from the first real national park game drive of the trip (the drive to the lodge from the park entrance doesn't really count, although we did see animals on that leg).
The bird on the left is probably a superb starling and the one on the left might be a lilac-brested roller. My memory is that we saw a lot of the superb starlngs (who were often identified as such by the driver guides). After returning home, sorting and editing these photos, and going over photos with the bird ID books (and noting the geographical range of the superb starling as indicated by one of the books), I now suspect that SOME (perhaps one or two) of the birds I have indicated here as superb starlings might indeed be other kinds of starlings.
