November 25, 2011 – Flew from Cairo to Aswan, lunch in Movenpick Hotel in Aswan (on north end of Elephantine Island), bus to Abu Simbel, arriving after dark.
The reason we were going to the airport was to fly to Aswan. Once we arrived in Aswan we stopped briefly at this hotel for lunch. Then we got on a bus and rode thru the desert to Abu Simbel, arriving there after dark.
I put this photo of the hotel pretty much as a place-time marker.
After viewing the temple at Abu Simbel (at sunrise) the next morning, got on a cruise boat and traveled on Lake Nassar for about three days until we got back to Aswan. Then we checked into this hotel and stayed there two nights. I have grouped all of the photos of this hotel (except this "marker" one) together at the point in the sequence of that second (and longer) visit to this hotel.
