Peru -- Primarily Machu Picchu (Dec 2010)

This was down on the valley floor, before we started up. I don't remember the story exactly, but apparently there had been a flood or a landslide here (some time after the Spanish conquest). The current ground level of the valley floor is several feet above where it was in Inca times. They have excavated down to the walls of the original buildings (the story was SOMETHING along those lines).
