Peru -- Primarily Machu Picchu (Dec 2010)

Based on where this photo appears in the sequence, I'm guessing it was somewhere near the beginning of the series of staircases. There had been a second sign that I guess I did not photograph. It was at a fork in the trail, where you had to choose between going to Big or Little Huayna Picchu.

It was pretty clear to me at this point (based partly on how far DOWN I'd gone into that gorge) that I wasn't going to be able to go to both places. I chose the big one.

What I've been calling Huayna Picchu (from a Wikipedia spelling) and the word on the sign are two different spellings of the same place.

Not sure about the coordinates on that sign. They don't look like latitude and longitude.
