Peru -- Primarily Machu Picchu (Dec 2010)

This was taken outside the main gate, looking down and across the slope we had come up on the bus. This shows some of the many switchbacks in the approach road. It's perhaps a 1000-1100 foot vertical difference from where a bridge crosses the river. The bridge is perhaps a mile from the center of Aguas Calentes -- and downriver, so the buses go "downhill" to reach the bridge, then back up this switchbacked approach road.
