Peru -- Primarily Machu Picchu (Dec 2010)

As suggested by the description for the previous photo, I did not (and still do not) like many of my photos of this place (which could be because I was not feeling well on this day). However, it deserves a couple more views. I have added this photo and the next one (which is a cropped version of this one) to highlight the structure of these walls.

The fortress (or monument or ceremonial site -- whatever it is) would look roughly like the letters "I L" if viewed from above, where the two letters represented steep hillsides faced with stone retaining walls (including some VERY large stones. The space between the two letters is a narrow valley. This photo looks onto the lower surface of the bottom bar of the "L" from ground level, not from above.

The previous photo is a shot of a portion of the face of the long bar of the "L".
