There were little shops and food stands in several areas. As I understood it, several groups of Bedouins used to live here. To develop this as a tourist area, they made them move (into a nearby community built for them). However, several of the families retained the right to operate various concessions during daylinght hours, such as these food stands, gift shops, and (I imagine) the horse, carriage, donkey, and camel transport concessions.
