November 26, 2011 -- Sunrise at two temples at Abu Simbel (built by Ramses II), cruised past ruins of an old fortress at Kasr Ibrim, Amada (three structures moved here to escape lake flooding).
Another example of the original paint. The next photo shows a close-up detail of a portion of this.
Apparently, almost all of these carved walls were brilliantly painted when these temples were built. (IMG_0928A.jpg)
