November 26, 2011 -- Sunrise at two temples at Abu Simbel (built by Ramses II), cruised past ruins of an old fortress at Kasr Ibrim, Amada (three structures moved here to escape lake flooding).
Abu Simbel Temples
One thing Ramy pointed out (one of many things) is that the faces on the three surviving statues of Ramses II are different. The faces seem to age as one moves from left to right (from the viewpoint of someone facing this temple). I presume the fallen face also follows that pattern. I did not get a good view of it (and I'm not sure if it is "readable" -- the front side of the face may have been damaged when that stature collapsed),
