From the top of the tower. The vertical line at right is part of the cable system for the sky drop. Jumpers start from just above this observation level.
Auckland is major historic volacanic area. The island on the horizon was produced by the most recent volcanic eruption, around the year 1500, a time when the island was inhabited by Polynesians. They did not have a written record, but some artwork that still exists and legends that have come down to the present day that appear to refer to this eruption.(IMG_5050.A495.JPG)
