This photo, and the next two, show the sun setting (almost) directly behind Kata Tjuta, another rock formation, perhaps 10-12 miles away. On this night, because of the clouds, the sunset was more interesting than the effect of the sunset on Ayres Rock. Sunlight passing thru gaps in the clouds make interestng shafts of light.
