Wildebeest Migration?

We passed an enormous herd of wildebeests in a wide line all moving in one direction (but I'm not sure what direction this was). I thinik we were there at the time of year when the ones in this region would normally be moving south into Tanzania (we WERE in Tanzania when this was taken).

I should have edited this photo to make the line of wildebeests more level. I think the "slant"effect was due to camera tilt, not that they were moving downhill.

This line was a few hundred yards from the road, so we did not get a good view of it. I'm guessing (from these photos and from memory) the "line" of them was probably 8- to 10-abreast, I'm pretty sure the line was at least a half-mile long (and perhaps longer -- and it could have extended outside the field of view we had of it (we were seeing this thru gaps in trees in the foreground).

This was the first large herd like this that we saw. Saw comparable things during the next few days -- sometimes they seemed to line up four across, sometimes two across, and sometimes single file. I don't know why or why they sometimes did one way and sometimes another.

I tried to get this on video. Haven't yet looked at the video closely (as this is written in early Feb 2013), but I don't have high hopes for it. Conditions were not great for photography.
