Serengeti Serena Lodge -- Broken Railing
Normally, I've been trying to put most or all of the "lodge" photos together, even if they come out of sequence. However, I'm making an exception here.
While we were at dinner the previous night, there was an incident involving a leopard who had entered one of the rooms. The manager of the lodge was injured while he was trying to drive (or lure) the leopard out of the room. He was injured in a fall when a balcony railing gave way.
This photo (taken from my room balcony) shows the remains of the railing on the ground (adjacent to the next "hut" containing guest rooms.
Also, note the carved post at left that is part of the balcony in my room.
The next two photos also show aspects of this broken railing. These photos were taken the morning after the leopard incident.
There is more about the leopard incident in the writeup on this trip in the "Writing" section of this web site.
