Kenya and Tanzania -- Oct 2012 -- Part II of III

The lodge was made of stone and (to me) had somewhat the "feel" of a ski lodge. The lodge was in several buildings connected to one another by covered wooden walkways, bridges, and stairways. The fact that these walkways (etc.) were covered led me to think that rain (and perhaps snow) was not uncommon at this altitude. There was light rain the afternoon we arrived.

This photo shows one of the guest room "wings". These guest wings were spread our along the inner wall of the crater, perhaps 40 feet in elevation below the rim.

The lodge was laid out so each guest room had a view looking down into the crater (about 2000 feet lower in elevation).
