I believe the runny thing behind its eye is secretions out of a gland (possibly the temporal gland), not a bleeding wound.

I later read these secretions are associated with them being in musth, which is when they tend to be violent (like in deciding who is going to be the dominant male?). However, it's possible the secretions can occur when they are not in musth. Also, my understanding is that only males can go into musth. If the temporal gland secretions are also limited to males, then this is a male (consistent with it -- him?-- being the only one in this group of photos).
