November 23, 2011 – Sakkara (Step Pyramid), large pyramids (and Sphinx) at Giza.
Sphinx (which is in the same area as the pyramids at Giza).
The body of the sphinx is a lion. In this photo, that looks like it MIGHT be the tail of the sphinx (tail of the lion) down in the lower left quadrant of this photo. However, my memory (which could be wrong) was that the tail was on the opposite side (which was in shadow -- and more difficult to reach).
This SEEMS to be the only photo I have (in the set of "selelcted good photos") where both the shpinx and a pyramid (part of one) show up in the same photo.
